From Cathas Gamedesign
This is the first setup for the new Turn2turn game.
It will be based on the game Travian
This main page is locked because of the numerous Bots that keep messing up the site. Highly irritating but soit..
Please don't delete stuff other people put un this site unless you are ABSOLUTELY sure it is obsolete. This page is meant to discuss the game and think out possible options etc.

Setup of the Game
The general idea of the game.
The races that are supported in this game.
The different scenarios that are possible for this game.
Tired of building in a sim-city world? Take up arms and take on the world!
The research that may make the game more interesting.
Graphics
We can start with one set of graphics, but I would like a new set of graphics for each race. An orc-main building will be nothing like an elf-building off course.
I am doubting whether the types of buildings should differ per race. Humans have stables, orcs have warg-chambers (or whatever) but the idea is the same. They are both cavalry units. Maybe one or two race-specials to make it interesting...
When a village is taken over by another race though, it will change instantly into the new owners-race (which is a bit weird :-(). All specials will be destroyed OR rendered useless (and be broken down by the new owner)...
Here is a list of graphics that I still need: Graphics
Keeping the game interesting
Here we will discuss how we can keep players playing...
Sitters, substitutes
Appointed sitters can watch an account of someone else and, if needs be, move his troops around to defend against attack etc. Sitters have VERY limited possibilities. They cannot build, send/sell goods, etc etc. They can only help with unexpected and devious attacks (or help the sitter defend). They are only there to keep an eye on your account while you sleep and make sure it still is there when you wake up.
A substitute is someone that replaces you while you are, for example, on holiday, sick or whatever. A substitute can do EVERYthing you can, but is only allowed to do this for a very limited time. So say max 1 or 2 weeks. Once the substitutes is finished, the account may not have a substitute for that amount of time. So say, you have a substitute for a week. Then you may not enter a new substitute for another week. While you have appointed a substitute, YOU are automaticly sitter. So you can only watch your account...
Rules
What are the rules we impose on the players.
Best is to keep this to a minimum. Less rules means less checking, banning, etc. The game should ensure players either cannot break the rules, or make it uninteresting...
Cheating
Here we discuss how we can prevent players from cheating (or catch them if they do).
Again, the fewer rules we have, the fewer they can break. I do not want to employ full-time hunters to catch losers who use two positions, etc.
By creating beginner-games and experienced games, you can filter out multiple positions because positions that are preyed upon to enhance a second position will never make it to the second (third/fourth etc) level leaving the loser in a new level game that he cannot cope with as he had to use two positions to get in that next level anyway.
A cool idea might be not to sanction things but to give players a 'LOSER' tag... I.e. You receive more goods than you send, you receive a LOSER tag. This tag is visible EVERYWHERE where your name appears. For each infriction we think unworthy of cool play, you receive loser-points. Attacking smaller players, receiving too many goods, etc etc. By making them visible to the world, and denying 'losers' in the rankings, people will become discouraged to play that way. Furthermore, players might even organise loser-hunts themselves... (maybe even give bonusses for that :-). There should be a way to get rid of them (by doing the oposite, or some 'good deed')..... This way losers can still play but a social control may keep it in check without us having to check everything....
Read here how other games do this: Loser Points
